Soul Barrel Brewing is a boutique, American-style brewery and beer garden at the Simondium Guild on the R45, in the winelands corridor between Paarl and Franschhoek. The philosophy is printed on every pour: great beer can change the world. In practice that means local ingredients, hoppy ales and old-world fermentations — barrel work and mixed-culture beers you won't find at many SA breweries.
The beer garden opens seven days a week for lunch, tastings and pints — 11am to 5:30pm through the week, later on Fridays and Saturdays. It's an easy add to any Franschhoek or Paarl wine day, and a deliberate change of pace from the estates around it.
