How we choose the best beers in South Africa

There's no single “best beer in South Africa” — a perfect braai lager and a world-class barrel-aged stout are judged by completely different rules. So instead of one league table, we rate every beer against the expectations of its own style, then tell you honestly who it's for. Each review scores appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel and balance out of five, and comes from a beer actually tasted — never a spec sheet or a press release.
