Who is behind this site?
Beer in South Africa is edited by BiBi — a beer industry professional with 35 years of experience in the South African beer market. BiBi has worked as a client of one of South Africa's biggest beverage manufacturers and has direct access to brewmaster information across multiple beer launches.
How We Research & Write
Every article, brewery guide, and beer review on this site draws on BiBi's personal knowledge of the SA beer industry, direct brewery visits, tastings, and verified public sources. Content is informed by 35 years of inside industry experience — including access to product launch information and brewmaster insights.
We do not publish unverified claims. Where brewery information comes from public sources, we cross-check it. Where it comes from personal experience or industry access, we say so.
How We Review Beers
Beer reviews are based on personal tastings by BiBi. Ratings reflect an honest assessment considering flavour, aroma, mouthfeel, appearance, and value in the South African market context. We are not paid to review any product.
Review ratings are BiBi's opinion — informed by decades of tasting experience, but subjective by nature. We encourage readers to taste for themselves.
Content Refresh Cycle
All content on this site is reviewed and refreshed every three months. Brewery details, taproom hours, beer availability, and market data are updated to reflect current information. When an article has been significantly updated, we note the revision date.
