Urban Brewing Co. opened its doors in Hout Bay's harbour district in March 2016 as a boutique, independent brewery and taproom with attitude — craft in a different class, as the motto has it.

The range is genuinely distinctive: Judas Peak, South Africa's first Kölsch-style ale; Monkey's Paw, a new-age hoppy pilsner; Talisman, which the brewery reckons is Hout Bay's best Weiss by some distance; the Dungeons Russian Imperial Stout; and a Festbier amber lager brewed for its own mini Oktoberfest.
