About Balgowan Brewery
Balgowan Brewery took its name from the small KwaZulu-Natal Midlands settlement it brewed in, on the Midlands Meander route between Howick and Nottingham Road.
Google now lists the brewery as permanently closed, with only a town-level address and a handful of reviews on record. Its social channels may still carry news if the operation relocates or restarts.
The Midlands remains well served for beer: Nottingham Road Brewing Company, South Africa's oldest independently owned craft brewery, is a short drive up the R103, and Drakensberg Brewery at Winterton covers the Berg end of the route.
